Irvine Electric | Southern California Edison

Electric service is a great place to start when setting up your Irvine utilities. Southern California Edison provides electricity to the City of Irvine, and has been in business for over 100 years. They are dedicated to clean energy practices and sustainability, so you can feel good about your service. SCE is also involved in community outreach, as well as assisting customers who may have trouble paying for their service. The average electric bill is around $140. 

Starting service with Southern California Edison

SCE makes setting up your electricity easy! You can open an account online by clicking here.. You will need your driver’s license or ID, Social Security Number, and Tax ID (if you’re starting service for a place of business).

If you’d rather start your electric service over the phone, you can call 1-800-655-4555. You will need to give 48 hours notices before starting service (not including weekends or holidays), and you will need the following information:

  • Name
  • Service address
  • Mailing address (if applicable)
  • Contact phone number
  • Alternate phone number
  • Social Security Number
  • Driver’s License number
  • Spouse/roommate name (if applicable)
  • Desired start date (Monday-Friday)

Transferring electric service with Southern California Edison

If you’re staying in the Irvine area, you can easily transfer your service online by clicking here. You can transfer service over the phone by calling 1-800-655-4555. You will need the following information when transferring your Irvine electricity:

Irvine Water Utilities | Irvine Ranch Water District

Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) provides water service and sewage collection and treatment to the Irvine area. The average water bill in Irvine is $114 per month.

Water usage rates are divided into 4 tiers of usage:

  • Tier 1 (low volume usage): $1.47/ccf
  • Tier 2 (base rate usage): $2.00/ccf
  • Tier 3 (inefficient usage): $4.86/ccf
  • Tier 4 (wasteful usage): $13.63/ccf

How to start service with Irvine Ranch Water District

There are a few ways you can set up your water and sewer account in Irvine. Click here to set up your account online, or speak to a customer service specialist at (949) 453-5300. Office hours are Monday-Thursday from 8am until 5pm.

To start service, you will need to be ready to provide the address for which you would like service, a mailing address, contact phone number, Social Security Number, and date you would like service to start. IRWD must be notified at least one business day ahead of your desired start or stop date. 

There is a $25 non-refundable service establishment fee that will appear on your first bill with IRWD, and a $50 fee if a Social Security Number is not provided upon opening your account. New IRWD customers may be required to pay an additional $50 deposit until payment history is established.

If you are staying within Irvine, your current account cannot be transferred; you will need to stop your current service and start service at your new location.

How to pay your Irvine Ranch Water District bill

IRWD provides several options for paying your water bill. You can set up one-time or regular online payment by creating an online account. To pay over the phone, call 888-288-0141. If you prefer to pay in person, you can do so at the IRWD Office located at 15600 Sand Canyon Avenue, Irvine, CA 92618. Office hours are Monday – Thursday from 8am until 5pm. There is a drop box in the parking lot for after hours or weekend payments. To pay by mail, send your payment stub in the envelope provided with your bill. If you don’t have the courtesy envelope, you can send payments to ​​Irvine Ranch Water District Customer Service Department, P.O. Box 51403 Los Angeles, CA 90051-5703.

Irvine Gas Utility | Southern California Gas Company

The Southern California Gas Company, or SoCalGas, serves the residents and businesses of Irvine. In business since 43 gas lamps were lit in Los Angeles in 1843, SoCal Gas is another utility provider aligned with going green. In fact, SoCal Gas is committed to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2045.

Natural gas prices in California are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. Pricing is set based on three factors: cost of procurement, cost of transportation or delivery, and public purpose surcharge. Rates are subject to change at the beginning of every year. Starting service with SoCalGas

Setting up an account with SoCal is easy! You can set up your account online and arrange for your start date. If you’d prefer to arrange your appointment by phone, you can call 1-877-238-0092.
